AI Governance Policy
LAST UPDATED: [INSERT DATE BEFORE PRODUCTION DEPLOYMENT]
1. Purpose
This policy describes how Project Research LLC approaches the use of artificial intelligence ("AI") tools in developing and operating Shuffle21 (the "Site"). It is intended to promote responsible, transparent, and well-governed use of AI throughout our development process.
2. Scope
This policy applies to AI tools used by Project Research LLC personnel and contributors in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of the Site, including AI-assisted code generation, review, and documentation.
3. Human Oversight
Human oversight remains part of important development and security decisions. AI tools may assist with drafting code, content, or documentation, but a human reviewer is responsible for evaluating, testing, and approving that output before it is used in the Site.
4. AI-Assisted Software Development
Portions of the Site's code and documentation may be drafted with the assistance of AI tools. AI-generated or AI-assisted code is treated as a starting point, not a finished product. It is not treated as inherently correct, secure, or complete.
5. Testing and Validation
AI-generated or AI-assisted code is reviewed and tested before being used in production, including functional testing of game rules and interface behavior. Known limitations identified during testing are tracked and addressed before deployment where practical.
6. Security
AI-generated output is reviewed for common security flaws (such as unsafe DOM manipulation, unnecessary third-party dependencies, or improper handling of stored data) as part of our normal development review process, consistent with the practices described on our Security page.
7. Privacy
Sensitive user information is not unnecessarily submitted to AI systems. Because the Site does not require accounts and does not collect sensitive personal data during normal gameplay, there is minimal sensitive information involved in the Site's day-to-day operation. AI tools used in development are used consistently with the practices described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Responsible Use
AI tools are used to support — not replace — thoughtful engineering judgment. Project Research LLC does not treat AI recommendations as automatically authoritative on legal, security, or architectural questions.
9. Transparency
This policy is published so that users and prospective collaborators can understand, at a general level, how AI fits into the development of the Site. We do not claim any particular AI system was or was not used for any specific feature beyond what is described here.
10. Third-Party AI Systems
Where third-party AI systems or services are used during development, they are subject to their own applicable terms and privacy practices. Project Research LLC reviews the general privacy and security posture of any AI tool before adopting it for meaningful use in our workflow.
11. AI Limitations
AI tools can make mistakes, produce plausible-looking but incorrect output, and are not aware of context outside what they are given. AI-generated code, text, or suggestions are not assumed to be accurate, secure, or legally sufficient without human review.
12. Incident Review
Material incidents that are found to involve AI-assisted code or content (for example, a functional bug or security issue traced to AI-generated output) are investigated so that our review process can be improved going forward.
13. Policy Updates
This policy may be updated as our development practices evolve. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
